The bridge between neck and wrists is slightly curved. This reduces strain on the shoulders, which making it more comfortable during longer play sessions. Next, the parts around the wrists can move. That way they fit the arms better and are less likely to pinch.
The pillory is sturdy, yet reasonably comfortable. It’s not a punishment to be in. Unless that’s what you want it to be, of course!
