Already running your shipping through ShipStation? Connect it to your Spicerack shop and your orders show up there alongside everything else, so you can print labels in one place.
Before you start
You need a ShipStation account with a store set up for Spicerack orders, and your ShipStation API keys. To get the keys, log in to ShipStation and go to Settings → Account → API Settings. Generate an API Key and API Secret and keep that tab open.
Connect it
- In your Spicerack seller dashboard, go to Shop settings → Integrations and find the ShipStation card.
- Turn on Enable Integration.
- Paste your API Key and API Secret.
- Click Test connection and wait for it to confirm.
- Click Get stores, choose the ShipStation store that matches this shop, then Save.
Saving also sets up the link that sends shipping updates back to Spicerack. From then on, new orders sync to ShipStation, and when you ship them there, the tracking number comes back to the Spicerack order.
After your first synced shipment, open the order in Spicerack and make sure it shows as Shipped with the tracking number. If the status did not move, set it to Shipped yourself. That status is what tells your buyer the order is on its way, and for newer shops it releases your payout.
If something breaks
- "ShipStation is rejecting your API key." Your key was revoked, expired, or regenerated in ShipStation. Create a fresh key and secret in ShipStation, paste them in, and test the connection again. Until you do, new orders do not sync.
- Orders are not appearing. Check that the right store is selected, then use Refresh connection.
- Stopped using ShipStation? Disconnect it on the same card. That clears your keys on our side and removes the Spicerack link in ShipStation, so it stops trying to sync. Leaving a dead connection behind means your orders never sync and nobody notices.
- ShipStation billing problems (an unpaid or paused ShipStation plan) also stop the sync. That one gets fixed inside ShipStation.
Prefer not to use ShipStation at all? You can buy labels directly on the order or add your own tracking. See How to ship an order and add tracking. Still stuck? Open a ticket.
