How to ship an order and add tracking

Getting an order out the door is half the job. The other half is telling Spicerack (and your buyer) that it left. Tracking is what makes buyers relax, and for newer shops it is also what releases your payout.

Option 1: buy a label right on the order

This is the fastest way, because it does the paperwork for you.

  1. Open the order in your seller dashboard.
  2. Click Buy Shipping Label.
  3. Choose your carrier and service, and check the package weight and dimensions.
  4. Pay with the card saved to your label billing (you add one the first time), then download and print the label.

That is it. The tracking number is added to the order, the order moves to Shipped, and your buyer gets an email with their tracking link. If you are still in your first few orders, your held payout releases too.

One heads-up: carriers sometimes re-measure a package. If the real weight or size is bigger than what you entered, the carrier bills the difference, and that adjustment is charged to the same saved card. Accurate dimensions save you money.

Option 2: ship your own way and add tracking

Using your own carrier account or dropping it at the counter? Totally fine. Just tell us about it:

  1. Open the order and click New shipment.
  2. Pick the Carrier and paste the Tracking number.
  3. Set the order status to Shipped and save.

Always add both the carrier and the tracking number. Without them your buyer cannot follow the package, and newer shops’ payouts stay on hold.

Option 3: ShipStation

If you already run your shipping through ShipStation, connect it once and your Spicerack orders flow into it. See How to connect ShipStation to your Spicerack shop.

Why speed matters here

Spicerack is a marketplace, so one buyer’s cart often comes from several shops, and each shop ships its own box. When one package arrives with tracking and yours has none, the buyer assumes yours got lost and writes to us. Adding tracking the day you ship is the single best way to avoid that message.

Shipping later than you planned? Update your buyer through Messages, and check your lead times (How to set lead times) so the next buyer gets an honest estimate.
