How you get paid on Spicerack

You made the thing, you shipped the thing, now you want the money. Here is exactly how it gets from a buyer’s card to you, and what can slow it down.

Connect where you want to be paid

In your seller dashboard, go to Shop settings → Shop info and open the Payments tab. You will see two options:

  • Connect a Stripe Express account: the main way card orders reach you. Stripe walks you through identity and bank details.
  • Connect with PayPal: used for orders paid with PayPal, and as the backup for card orders if you do not use Stripe.

Connect at least one. With neither connected, we have nowhere to send your money, and it sits waiting until you do. In some countries PayPal is the only option; the Payments tab shows you what is available where you are.

When the money moves

PayPal orders

When a buyer checks out with PayPal, PayPal splits the payment on the spot. Your share lands in your PayPal account within minutes, minus PayPal’s own processing fee.

Card orders

This depends on how long you have been selling with us:

  • Your first 3 fulfilled orders: we hold the money until the order ships. As soon as the order is marked Shipped with a tracking number and a carrier, the payout releases on its own. Orders over $250 get a quick look from our team first.
  • After 3 fulfilled orders: you get paid when the buyer pays. No waiting on shipping.

Card payouts go to your Stripe account. Stripe then moves it to your bank on your Stripe payout schedule. To see balances and bank transfers, open Seller tools → Stripe Connect, which takes you to your Stripe Express dashboard. No Stripe? Card orders are paid to your connected PayPal once they ship.

Your payout is the order amount minus Spicerack’s commission and payment processing fees.

Money not showing up? Check these first

  1. Is a payout account connected? Payments tab, as above.
  2. Is the order marked Shipped with tracking and a carrier? For newer shops this is what releases the money. A tracking number with no carrier does not count. See How to ship an order and add tracking.
  3. Is it a card order over $250 from a newer shop? Our team reviews those before release.
  4. Is your PayPal account limited? If PayPal restricts your account, it can block money coming in or going out. Only PayPal can lift that, so check your PayPal notifications.

Still stuck? Open a ticket with the order number and we will trace it.
