The rose toy is the most returned product in this category, and almost none of those returns are faulty units. They are technique. Four specific mistakes account for nearly every "it did nothing for me" review, and all four take about ten seconds to fix.
Mistake one: no lube
Air pulse toys work by sealing against skin and moving air inside that sealed chamber. Dry skin does not seal well, so the pressure waves leak out the sides and you feel almost nothing.
Fix: a single drop of water based lube around the mouth of the toy. Not on you, on the silicone rim. Water based only, since silicone lube degrades silicone. Sliquid H2O is the safe default.
Mistake two: starting too high
People turn a new toy to maximum to "see what it does". With air pulse that is exactly backwards. The useful range for most people sits in the bottom third, and starting high overwhelms the nerves rather than stimulating them.
Fix: lowest setting, always, and stay there longer than feels necessary before stepping up.
Mistake three: pressing
Instinct with a vibrator is to press harder for more. Press an air pulse toy into yourself and you collapse the air chamber, which is the one thing that stops it working entirely.
Fix: rest it in place. The seal does the work, not the pressure. If you are pushing, you are wrong.
Mistake four: moving it
Vibrators reward movement. Air pulse toys reward stillness, because every reposition breaks and remakes the seal.
Fix: find the position, then hold it. Boring, and it is the whole technique.
If it still does nothing
Two remaining possibilities. The mouth size may not suit your anatomy: too large and the seal fails, too small and it pinches rather than pulses. Trying a different model is the only fix.

Clean the inside of the mouth after every use, not just the outside. Residue in the chamber affects the seal, which brings you right back to mistake one. Warm water and a proper toy cleaner, dried fully before storing.

Is my rose toy broken? Almost certainly not. Work through the four fixes above before concluding anything.
Why did it work once and not again? Sensitivity varies considerably across the cycle and with arousal. A toy that felt intense one week can feel mild the next.
Should it be loud? A soft pumping sound is normal. It quietens once sealed.
Can I use it in the shower? If waterproof rated, yes, but water breaks the seal. Dry contact works better.
