Demon Whiskers! Simple construction, unusual material, and a surprisingly wide range of sensation.

These floggers are made from bundles of stiff 1mm monofilament originally manufactured for car-wash brushes, secured inside a custom 3D-printed handle. The strands start at approximately 24 inches long and can be cut shorter depending on the sensation you're looking for.

At full length, the monofilaments have enough flexibility that striking with the main portion of the strands can actually feel relatively soft and brushing. Catch the skin with the ends, though, and the sensation becomes considerably sharper, stingier, and scratchier.

And the shorter the whiskers, the scratchier they get.

Cutting the strands shorter makes them progressively stiffer, changing both how they move and how strongly you feel the individual filaments. Keep them long for more flexibility and movement, or have them shortened for a firmer, more concentrated scratchy sensation.

A Little History Behind the Whiskers

Car-wash brushes actually have some history in our shop.

One of the first BDSM toys I ever made used softer bristles salvaged from discarded bus-wash brushes. Those bristles moved and felt somewhat like a stiffer version of horsehair, and for years I tried to find the same material again after my original supply eventually ran out.

Much later, while trying to track down a commercial replacement, I ended up with these.

They were indeed car-wash bristles—but instead of the softer, more flexible material I remembered, these were considerably stiffer. They weren't going to recreate the original toy.

They did, however, make a very interesting one of their own.

And that's how the Demon Whiskers came to be.
