In a remote, mist-shrouded village on the edge of the world, ancient traditions and mysterious rituals intertwined with the fabric of everyday life. The villagers of Steindalen revered the eldritch beings that existed beyond the veil of reality, beings of immense and incomprehensible power. Central to their customs was a ribbed and boney totem, an artifact believed to be imbued with the potent essence of an eldritch creature, used to invoke fertility.

The totem was crafted eons ago by the first shamans of Steindalen after an encounter with an eldritch entity known as Qal'gorath, the Bringer of Life. During a ritual to seek guidance and prosperity, the shamans were visited by Qal'gorath. This being bestowed upon them a fragment of its otherworldly power, a fragment that was a symbol of the entity’s life-giving force.

The totem, sculpted from the bones of ancient beasts and shaped to mirror the eldritch anatomy, was adorned with intricate carvings and ribbed patterns that pulsed with a faint, eerie glow. These ribs symbolized the intertwining of the natural and supernatural, the seen and unseen, life and the beyond. Its presence was both awe-inspiring and terrifying, a testament to the raw, untamed power of the eldritch.
