Most position advice assumes two bodies and nothing else. Add a toy and the geometry changes: something has to reach, stay put, and not require a third hand. Here are the positions that actually work with toys, and why.
The constraint
Every toy position problem is the same problem: where does the toy go, and who is holding it. Solve that and the rest follows.
Positions that work
- Spooning. The best toy position there is. Both hands free, easy reach from behind, and a bullet or wand fits between bodies without anyone contorting.
- Missionary with a wearable. A vibrating ring or panty vibe puts the motor where it needs to be with nobody holding anything.
- Reverse cowgirl with a wand. The person on top controls angle and can hold a wand against themselves with a clear line of sight.
- Doggy with a mounted toy. A suction cup toy on a headboard or mount, covered in our hands-free guide.
- Side by side, mutual. Both people with a toy each, no reaching required.
Positions that fight you
Anything where both people need a hand for balance. Anything requiring a reach across a body at an angle your wrist objects to. And standing, generally, unless the toy is wearable.

Position-Friendly Toys
FFIX and Versa Bullet are small enough to fit anywhere. FemmeFunn Unda and We-Vibe Pivot stay put with no hands. Magic Wand has the handle length to reach without contortion. Sliquid H2O because friction increases with complexity.
Practical notes
- Set up before you start. Toy within reach, charged, lubed. Hunting mid-session ends things.
- Pillows are underrated. A wedge changes the angle more than a new position does.
- Remote controls solve the reach problem better than any position does.
