The Rebar Impact Baton is built around a solid 5/8-inch rebar core surrounded by thick foam padding. That combination gives it substantial weight and a deep, heavy thud while the padded exterior reduces much of the sharper surface sting you'd normally expect from an impact toy this heavy.
This is also one of my oldest designs. I was making and selling an earlier version before I ever opened my Etsy shop, originally repurposing foam toy nunchucks for the padded exterior. These days I use thick pipe insulation instead, but the basic idea hasn't changed: put a lot of weight inside a generous layer of padding and let physics do the rest.
The baton is finished with a durable vinyl tape wrap that protects the foam and provides a comfortable, secure grip.
